The Sovereignty of Education in America

The United States of America is a country which is defined greatly by the things that make American citizens different from each other, while still maintaining tremendous sameness as well. This almost irreconcilable hypocrisy, the end result of the federal system has resulted in the US becoming the most powerful nation in the world and the longest standing democratic-republic in the modern world.

When The USA was starting out as a country there was a large debate whether the denyonmym was to be The United States or These United States. More often than not the plural version was the one most likely to be known throughout the world. The was mainly because the goal was to be a union of independent states that make up a nation, but not one individual nation-state. This really began to change during the civil war, as a result of the feeling of empowerment of states which caused them to rebel. After the Civil War much of state sovereignty had been eroded, however states continue to hold on to whatever bit of their sovereignty that they can.

This in mind it is clear that Education has long since been a part of state sovereignty. There is a reason for this. Education creates the tools for the next generation, and the needs of the future generations in different states can and should be different. Some states may be more agricultural and more focus should be placed on agricultural and environmental literacy. Other states may be more multi-ethnic and have a large global dynamic, thereby making international and world studies more necessary. This argument for states’ rights in education certainly holds true with the original attitudes of the founders that states should have control over the powers not directly delegated to the federal government.

Certainly there is something to be said about uniformity throughout the nation. There certainly would be advantages, such as people anywhere in the country being on the same page, and being able to make the same references and threshold of understanding as anybody else in the US, creating more similarities between people. Though valid, from a constitutional standpoint and from a federalist standpoint that is not what this nation is about. The founding of this nation holds a strong focus on being able to have independent states within a common union created for common defense and economic well-being. Given that the task of education is not given to the federal government it is left to the states thereby constitutionally speaking this issue should be left to the states. Additionally the potential recourse of a national education system can be a federal level politically based and partisan system which can influence national education for political means and override the sovereignty of the states.
Ultimately while a national education system can have positive attributes, it does not recognize the needs of the localities and the states, and creates a potential ground for overriding of state power and creation of partisan political education. Therefore it is clear that the best way to maintain state sovereignty is to develop and more strongly maintain, state level controls as opposed to national level controls over education.

Is public education a breeding ground for liberal constituents?

So, Today while I was in the sauna I was reading a little Newsweek article condemning George Bush, and ironically enough the current president Obama as well. The main topic of this article which allowed Obama to be so chastised was his education policy and the striking similarities, to no child left behind. Now admittedly as with any Newsweek article, it had a left leaning spin and pushed more of the fault on Bush, but that is all beside the point. In the article there was a line that said that these programs instituted by the current and previous presidents, will destroy the public school system.
All I could say was don’t tease me Newsweek.
So okay, before you start getting upset and saying. This guy hates education blablablabla. Think about what the public education system has really, become.
So EVERY teacher belongs to the AFL-CIO, Why? They have too it’s pretty simple, want to teach? Join the union. Well we all know that the unions are in the pockets of the Left and the Left is in the pockets of the union so in a way the unionized left is a self-fulfilling entity.
So as any self-fulfilling entity, those who speak the company line the best and loudest, rise the highest. It’s the nature of the establishment. So the Democrat controlled unions, control teachers, which control students…thereby leading to millions of liberal brainwashing factories and nothing more.
So you are probably thinking that I am just blowing smoke, but let’s be real for a minute. Everyone knows about programs that allow students to go to different schools that are outside of the district, taking the money from the district into a different district, the same complaint that they voice of voucher program. Why is it not an issue for a student to go to a different program in a different district? Because the unions still get paid and it’s still the same union and as long as the union is paid it doesn’t matter.
So all in all, the public education system as it stands is a producer of liberal constituents.
Thanks for tuning in

Too Liberal To Be Functional

So before I begin I have to apologize for it being so long since my last post, but I wanted to discuss an Issue something of interest that has come into my mind. Since I have been going to my school, and been surrounded by liberals, and have seen the absolute level of dysfunctionalism among them It has made me beg the question; is it possible, to be too liberal to be functional?
I guess we should start with my hypothesis, and question what functionality is? I think functionality is being able to survive, reproduce, and provide. Does liberalism provide for any of those things?
I certainly don’t think so. Since I have been at school there has been a campaign for low carbon lunches. Within some of the calls for low carbon lunches were to eat less meat, eat only locally grown items, don’t buy anything out of season, don’t shop at Wal-Mart, you know the usual liberal none-sense. Well If you take it a step further, maybe we shouldn’t harvest crops using industrial vehicles, so I guess that means no grocery stores for the liberal elitists who propose this non-sense. Wait and cow flatulence causes greenhouse gas emissions so I guess we can’t eat meat either. So I guess that liberals advocate either we should all live on a farm, or that we should just not eat and die, or perhaps revert to a more primitive hunter-gatherer form of life. Totally dysfunctional
How about reproduction, I think that liberal reproductive ideology speaks for itself. After all families create optimum support for reproduction and not supporting a family neither properly supports reproduction nor does it properly provide for a family.
So the question, is it possible to be too liberal to be functional? The answer is yes!

Chinese- American Economic Reform

This is going to be a sort of micro post, but something interesting to think about. I was in my China, Japan US class, and we were talking about the currency problems with china’s manipulation of currency. Well food for thought, the US just dropped huge amounts of money into the US economy total manipulating the value of US currency and Chinese debt and the world, at large.
So the question I ask is how can we hold China to standards and ask them to not manipulate their currency when we have done it ourselves?
I don’t want to see America regressing…Food for thought

A Call to Conservative Young Women

On Saturday, Geraldine Ferraro, known for being the first female to run for Vice President, died at age 75 from complications related to blood cancer. Her death is certainly sad. She will be remembered for her astounding contributions to women in politics. She was a great person and provided a strong foundation for other female politicians such as Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton.
That being said, Ferraro recognized the hypocrisy that Palin suffered at the hands of many feminists, being ridiculed for attempting to raise a family and be a politician at the same time, a right that “feminists” have been fighting for.

I put feminist in quotes, because I feel that the basis of feminism as that women have the ability to be equal to men in every respect while rearing their children or handling domestic duties in any way they see fit and in collaboration with their spouses or alone if they so desire.
So what makes Palin any different from this definition of a feminist? You guessed it: she is a conservative. In modern feminism, the aforementioned definition applies only to liberals, while conservative women are somehow not feminist. Go figure: a woman choosing to do something outside of the mainstream is not feminist according to the feminist mainstream.

Our lovely conservative ladies who are too scared to let themselves be heard for fear of disenfranchising themselves from the group need to hear this call and take example from Sarah Palin and Geraldine Ferraro: break from the mainstream and do what is right no matter what. Don’t let anyone hold you down. Be a real feminist, be strong, be independent, and do what you know in your heart is right.

Thanks for reading, and until next time,

The college Student's Guide to Conservatism

Hi everybody.
I should apologize for being so inactive on my blog, for those who did read I feel I have disappointed you, but I am making a commitment to resume writing. With that said I want to talk about college life, especially what college life is like for conservatives. As a conservative at a liberal institution I have found life is very difficult for us conservatives, we aren’t very vocal, we don’t bash the other side publicly, we keep to ourselves, but should our real opinions slip… we become pariahs. This is the state of affairs in the American college. So what should we all do to try to maintain our conservatism and still be accepted by our peers as well as maintaining our grades.
One easy thing to do is find the conservative groups in your school, be wary of groups that may be to wedded to a particular personality or candidate, look instead for more independent groups. Attend political protests in your area. Protests are a big place for conservative teens to “come out of the conservative closet” so to speak. You will be surprised how many of your peers you will find and protests.
Finally one big step is to find out who your conservative teachers are. This is not always easy, and conservatives usually won’t tell you out-right, as that would jeopardize their position. So there are a few questions you could ask. One question is what is your perspective on the federalist papers? If they actually read them, they are far more well-read than the average professor. If they say they agree or like them and have a positive response, you will find common ground with this professor and let your true feelings be heard. However if it is an unfavorable response, you know that you are going to keep your mouth shut for interest of self-preservation.
There is tremendous irony in the fact that liberal professors who profess tolerance of all people, who are tolerant of all races, creeds, religions and so forth, can be so intolerant of their conservative students and neighbors. While at the same time the conservatives who they often see as the great evil, tend to be much more tolerant of their liberal students.
My call to you my friends in my same position, be vocal, but preserve yourself. It is not In your interest to suffer academically. Start clubs, find your safety zones, be politically active, but save it for outside of the class room.
It feels so nice to be back to blogging, thanks for tuning in, and remember until next time

Dec 15 Red Alert Rally DC

Today, I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Red Alert rally in DC. It was very exciting having such notable speakers, as Laura Ingram, Michele Bachman and Dick Armey just to name a few. The crowd though small was very energetic. We republicans after all have jobs and cant afford to be taking time off of work to protest, so those who can come, have to be twice as loud, to compensate for those who can't.

It is a shame that today Lieberman caved to the Liberals. It was certainly disappointing, because there were so many "Hang in there Joe!" signs that were inevitably changed to some variation of Joe is a Skunk.

We have one small hope left in congress that this bill won't pass and that is in Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson. Stay strong Ben!

Without further Adue, I present several speakers from today's rally. I took these videos with my cell phone between people's heads so I do apologize for the quality.

Speaker: Name Unknown

Speaker: Rick Schtodt
